A season-opening win for Nebraska women's basketball.

The Huskers ran past Northwestern State for a 90-42 victory Monday afternoon. NU is now 2-0 all-time against the Demons, with the 1994 meeting seeing current coach Amy Williams play a minute off the bench as a freshman in the win.

Nebraska got up early, scoring the first 16 points of the game. The lead never shrank below double digits and grew to its largest margin at 49.

NU shot 42.6 percent, including 10-of-32 from 3. Northwestern State managed 21.8 percent shooting with five made 3s on 20 attempts.

Nine Huskers scored, led by Jaz Shelley with 17 points. The trio of Darian White, Alexis Markowski and Anni Stewart notched 13 points apiece, while Callin Hake (12) and Natalie Potts (10) also eclipsed double figures.

White grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, followed closely by Markowski with eight.

Nebraska goes on the road Friday to face Wyoming.
