Nebraska governor and former Husker Jim Pillen says his alma mater is well set up with the latest round of conference expansion.

"With Big Ten and all the things changing," Pillen said at the Nebraska Ag and Economic Development Summit Wednesday. "We live in the best place for Big Ten athletics to take place.

"It's the best place to be a student-athlete. You don't have to take six hour plane rides. All those things make a big difference."

Pillen was also asked on the football team winning this fall.

"I'll tell you this," Pillen said. "In any setting, when people are positive, when people give it everything they have, and work hard and believe in a culture, it make a big difference and that's what's happening right now.

"I'm really excited about the future of Husker football."
