The 100th anniversary of Nebraska football at Memorial Stadium will come with it an alternate uniform.

When the Huskers host Northwestern on Oct. 21, Big Red will incorporate a blue border around the numbers. The blue is a callback to the first game ever at Memorial Stadium, where Nebraska wore blue uniforms in order to allow the visiting Oklahoma Sooners to wear their red.

The outsides of the shoulders feature quotes from around Memorial Stadium. The quotes come from inscriptions penned by philosophy professor Hartley Burr Alexander:

"In Commemoration of the men of Nebraska who served and fell in the Nation's Wars."

"Not the victory but the action; Not the goal but the game; In the deed the glory."

"Courage; Generosity; Fairness; Honor; In these are the true awards of manly sport."

"Their Lives they held their country's trust; They kept its faith; They died its heroes."

The uniforms also feature a 100th Anniversary patch above on the front of the left shoulder.
