Offensive Lineman Halafihi Tapu Recaps Nebraska Visit

'Something is really special about this place,' says 2025 tackle from Salt Lake City

Nebraska football has hosted visitors recently from a plethora of recruiting classes. One of the prospects to make his way to Lincoln is from the state of Utah.

Halafihi Tapu is a 2025 offensive tackle at West High School in Salt Lake City. He is a three-star recruit according to Rivals, weighs 295 pounds and stands 6-foot-7. He visited earlier this week and had great things to say about the Huskers afterward.

“My visit to Nebraska was just an amazing experience to be in, to see the history but also the passion that the coaches have to carry on the legacy that was before them,” Tapu told HuskerMax.

He compiled some notes from his visit that he shared.

“Everyone was all welcoming to me and my teammates. It was an honor for them to take us into their own arms and take us through their facilities.”

“What I think separates Nebraska from the other colleges is the people. I think they are the reasons why Nebraska is Nebraska. Since 1963 till now, all seats have been sold which is just an amazing thing to see. I think it is so cool how loyal they are, but it’s also the history behind Nebraska which is really interesting and important to these people.”

The visit, he said, “exceeded my expectations because again how welcoming they are but also able to give like answers that I wanted to know about Nebraska and what makes Nebraska special, so massive thanks to the staff and the coaches.”

“Coach Taylor (recruiting assistant Taylor Richards) is who I connected with. He was just an amazing dude to hang out with, man, just telling me what he liked about Nebraska, even though he had just recently been offered to work there. But what was really cool to hear was that he was just appreciative of the staff because of how they wanted to get to know about Coach Taylor, so that’s something that I had in common when we first arrived when we were walking around Nebraska. Which just goes to show how wonderful this team is.”

“I do plan to come back because Nebraska is one of my top colleges right now. Something is really special about this place, but I just really like it because they still call me every now and then to check up on me, so I’m just happy to be able to see Nebraska.”

“My vision about Nebraska is that Nebraska will come back to being a dominant team again and I know for sure because if the head coach is willing to bust his ass and the coaches to bring this program back, I know for sure that Nebraska will dominate like back then.”
