Ohio State senior pitcher Josh Timmerman pitched a beauty on Sunday during a game between the Brewster Whitecaps and the Chatham Anglers.

Timmerman, who is spending his Buckeyes offseason with the Whitecaps in the Cape Cod Baseball League, allowed a hit and a walk while tallying seven strikeouts in six complete innings on the hill.

“Biggest thing is getting ahead and focusing on things like getting up ahead, and I can kind of mix my pitches,” Timmerman said after the game. “Always trying to give our team the best chance to win.”

Whitecaps head coach Jaime Shevchik said Timmerman's play has begun to silence his critics and turn him into a household name.

“He’s proven a lot of people wrong out here," Shevchik said."He’s making a name for himself.”

Timmerman went 2-2 in his debut season with the Buckeyes, pitching 23.2 innings over 13 games and six starts. The right-hander gave up 22 earned runs, 21 hits and 20 walks, but retired 36 opposing batters by way of a strikeout.

The Blacklick, Ohio-native spent two years at Wabash Valley Community College in Mount Carmel, Illinois before transferring to Ohio State.

Timmerman earned an 8-1 record through 16 appearances in 2022 with the Warriors, whom advanced to the third round of the Junior College World Series at the end of that season. Aside from his record, the 85 strikeouts Timmerman compiled over his 68.2 innings of work gave him an 11.14 punch-out average per nine innings.
