Ohio State Suffers 16th-Straight Road Defeat in Loss to Wisconsin

The Ohio State Buckeyes have now lost their last 16 road games in a row, including Tuesday's contest against the Wisconsin Badgers.

The Ohio State Buckeyes still cannot win on the road.

Despite breaking its overall losing streak against the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday, the Buckeyes men's basketball team remains winless when playing away from their home floor. Ohio State has now lost each of their last 16 road games, dating back to last season.

Three Buckeyes scored in double figures on Wednesday: Bruce Thornton, Roddy Gayle Jr. and Evan Mahaffey. Thornton led the crew with 18, while Gayle and Mahaffey each had ten.

Ohio State had a few problem areas in its loss to Wisconsin, the first of which being free throws. The Buckeyes only shot twice from the charity stripe, making one of them to finish with a 50 percent clip.

On the other side, Wisconsin made 11 of its 16 shots from the free-throw line for an almost 69 percent rate. Getting to the line was an important part of how the Badgers secured their win.

Keeping up with what has become a season motif, Ohio State was out-rebounded by their opponents. The Badgers pulled down 39 rebounds while the Buckeyes hauled in only 26.

Finally, Ohio State could not find its stroke from deep, especially in the first half. Wisconsin out-shot the Scarlet and Gray from behind the three-point line 40 percent to 22 percent over the opening 20 minutes.

The Buckeyes are back at home on Sunday for a battle against the No. 2 Purdue Boilermakers. Tip-off at Value City Arena is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern on CBS.
