No. 2 Ohio State Wins 13th Straight, Beats Penn State on the Road

The Ohio State Buckeyes took care of business on Thursday, knocking off the Penn State Nittany Lions to earn their 13th victory in a row with just three games left in the season.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are winding down the season in dominant fashion.

On Thursday, the Buckeyes defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions 82-69 to secure their 13th consecutive victory. The end-of-week triumph over the Nittany Lions was also the sixth road win Ohio State has recorded over their recent stretch of success.

Graduate guard Jacy Sheldon led the way for the Buckeyes with 20 points, while sophomore forward Cotie McMahon finished just behind her on the box chart with 16 individual points. Senior guard Celeste Taylor also ended the game with 16 points, surpassing 1,500 career points on her way to that number.

The Buckeyes shot over 40 percent as a team from both the floor (47 percent) and behind the three-point arc (41 percent). In contrast, Penn State hit 49 percent of their shots from the floor, but just 24 percent from deep.

That ineffective rate, combined with 27 team turnovers compared to just 16 from the Buckeyes, cost the Nittany Lions the game. While getting the edge in that respective statistics battle, Ohio State will no doubt want to button that up before its final three contests of the season.

As a small consolation, Penn State did out-rebound Ohio State, pulling down 35 boards against 29 from their opponent. The Nittany Lions also recorded six blocks compared to four from the Buckeyes.

Ohio State returns home for their next game, hosting the Maryland Terrapins at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 25. Coverage of the game will air live from Value City Arena on the Big Ten Network.
