WATCH: Ex-Ohio State Buckeyes WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba Scores First NFL Touchdown

The rookie receiver earned his first points of his NFL career with a 28-yard scoring reception during the Seattle Seahawks' game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

Former Ohio State Buckeyes receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba scored the first touchdown of his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

With just under five minutes left in the first quarter, Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith found Smith-Njigba wide-open down the middle of the field.

The ex-Buckeye secured Smith's laser of a throw at the three-yard line before running the rest of the way into the endzone. Smith-Njigba's touchdown was the first of the game for either team and gave the Seahawks a 6-0 lead over the Arizona Cardinals.

Smith-Njigba has played in each of the Seahawks' five games this season, hauling in 16 of his 25 total targets over that time. The Rockwall, Texas native has amassed 110 yards through those contests, which averages out to almost seven yards per catch.

As a member of the Buckeyes, Smith-Njigba earned 1,698 yards over three years, 95%  of which (1,606 yards) came during his electric sophomore campaign in 2021. Smith-Njigba crossed the goalline nine times that year as well, setting him up for a high position in the following year's NFL Draft.

Smith-Njigba played very few snaps in his final year with the Buckeyes due to a mild injury he sustained on the opening weekend against the then-No. 5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The Seahawks chose Smith-Njigba with their first pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, taking the Ohio State wideout with the 20th overall selection. After earning a roster spot following offseason training camp, Smith-Njigba chose to keep the No. 11 which he sported throughout his time in college.
