BREAKING: Ohio State Lands Transfer QB Julian Sayin From Alabama

Ohio State continues to add to its impressive transfer-portal resume, securing a commitment from former Alabama quarterback Julian Sayin.

The Ohio State Buckeyes continue to impress in the transfer portal.

On Sunday, the Buckeyes secured a commitment from quarterback Julian Sayin. The former Alabama Crimson Tide signal-caller is the third player that Ohio State has taken from the Crimson Tide via the portal.

Joining Sayin from the Crimson Tide are offensive lineman Seth McLaughlin and defensive back Caleb Downs. Downs was the top-ranked player available in the transfer portal, according to multiple outlets.

A former five-star recruit, Sayin was one of the biggest prospects Alabama had in its pipeline. The Carlsbad, California product had been verbally committed to the Crimson Tide since November 2, 2022.

Sayin was one of several players to sign his national letter of intent to the school on the opening day of the early signing window back in December of 2023. Now, he is on his way to Ohio State following a recent coaching change at Alabama, replacing the retired Nick Saban with Kalen DeBoer.

It is widely believed among media close to the Crimson Tide that Sayin's decision to transfer is directly connected to Saban's departure.

Sayin is now the fifth quarterback in Ohio State's room with a chance at being named the starter for the coming year. Kansas State transfer quarterback Will Howard is the favorite to land the job, but underclassmen Devin Brown, Lincoln Kienholz and Air Noland won't let him have it without a fight.

Aside from Noland, Sayin will have the least amount of experience out of his four competitors. His chances at landing the job will all come down to his effort in preseason camp, as well as his time (if he gets any) in the 2024 Spring Game.
