Florida RB Commit Chauncy Bowens Plans Ohio State Visit

The junior running back says he will take an unofficial visit at the request of Buckeye RBs coach Tony Alford.

Chauncey Bowens, a junior running back at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, has had his eyes set on being a Florida Gator for a while.

However, as the start of his college career draws near, a variety of other schools are making a run at the young star, including the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Bowens has never been to Columbus but said the reputation of the program has earned the Buckeyes at least some thought from him, even if they're not high on his shortlist.

"I wouldn't say add them to a top three or anything, but I definitely have to go consider them and go visit," Bowens said.

In terms of a timetable for this visit, Bowens said his trek north to Ohio's capital city does not have a set date due to multiple external factors.

"We don't have a date yet because plane tickets, we're still trying to figure that out," Bowens said.

Bowens also says his visit will be unofficial.

"I know for a fact it will be unofficial," Bowens said. "(Alford) had been talking to me a couple months prior to that, and then he offered me to come."

It's hard to imagine Bowens would choose Ohio State over Florida based on the weather, but perhaps Alford and the Buckeye coaching staff can convince him to take his talents further north than he had previously intended.
