OFFICIAL: Ohio State Buckeyes Add Secondary Depth With 4-Star DB Jaylen McClain

Another defensive back is looking to become a star at DBU.

Jaylen McClain looks to become a household name in Ohio State's secondary.

McClain officially signed his National Letter of Intent to play at Ohio State on Wednesday. He is set to play safety or potentially even the nickel defender role in Jim Knowles' defense beginning in 2024.

The 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back finished his time at Seton Hall Prep (West Orange, N.J.) with 126 tackles. He also blocked both a punt and a field goal and played receiver during his four seasons with the Pirates.

McClain chose Ohio State over programs like Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame and USC, among others. Ohio State contacted McClain earlier this offseason and offered him a scholarship in March.

McClain now joins Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot and three-star Leroy Roker as the two safeties who signed with Ohio State on Wednesday. The New Jersey native also is the ninth player to sign as part of Ohio State's 2024 class.

The Buckeyes are expected to finish with a top-five class for the 2024 cycle and the No. 1 class among Big Ten programs.
