Ohio State Interested in Auburn Transfer QB T.J. Finley?

The Ohio State Buckeyes do not have a replacement announced for quarterback C.J. Stroud after spring practice, leaving rumors to circulate about using the transfer portal.

Could the Ohio State Buckeyes shake things up at quarterback by dipping into the transfer portal for help?

After a less-than-stellar spring game performance from junior signal-caller Kyle McCord, a rumor is circulating that the Buckeyes have an interest in T.J. Finley, the former Auburn Tigers quarterback who is currently in the transfer portal.

The whispers originate from Finley himself, who posted a photo to his Snapchat story showing off his geotag location at Ohio State, presumably on a visit, adding the eyes emoji.

It would certainly be a shock that the Buckeyes go outside the program to replace now Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud as they entered spring with a battle between McCord and sophomore Devin Brown. But due to a finger injury that sidelined Brown, all the Buckeyes faithful saw during the annual Scarlet and Gray game was McCord and Tristan Gebbia.

After left many the opportunity to over-analyze the performance of McCord, who completed 18 of his 34 passes for 184 yards and a touchdown, showing flashes of what made him highly-touted of high school but lacking consistency.

Adding Finley would give Ohio State a veteran presence in the quarterback room with SEC experience as a starter. Finley started his career at LSU, playing in five games for the Tigers, before transferring to Auburn following the 2020 season.

Finley would play in just 13 games on the Plains and even opened the 2022 season as the starter before a shoulder injury ended his season four games in. Finley will leave Auburn after throwing for 1,258 yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions
