Report: Ohio State Football Set to Play Northwestern at Wrigley Field - Details

Two Northwestern beat writers reported the Wildcats will play the Ohio State Buckeyes at Wrigley Field while their new venue is under construction in Evanston.

The Ohio State Buckeyes will play in one of the most historic venues in all of sports next season.

According to reports, the Northwestern Wildcats will host the Buckeyes at Wrigley Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 16. The current home of the Chicago Cubs will serve as one of several fields on which the Wildcats will play while their new home stadium is being built.

"Northwestern is still exploring options for where the team will play next season," a statement from Northwestern said. "At this time, contracts with venues are still being finalized and we will share information with you as soon as possible."

Northwestern demolished Ryan Field, its long-time home following the end of the 2023 season. Originally named "Dyche Field" when it was first built in 1926, the Wildcats compiled a 556-702-44 record over 1,302 games at the venue.

The new Ryan Field is set to be one of the most state-of-the-art sporting arenas in college football when it opens in 2026. In addition to serving as the home of Wildcats football, the stadium will have the capacity to hose concerts and other events outside the world of athletics.

Renderings from Northwestern University show the new stadium boasting multiple videoboards and digital banners around the field, along with a gathering area for fans outside of the gates.

The stadium will be open aside from a partial roof covering some of the seats positioned towards the top of the upper level.

These three-dimensional models can be found on Northwestern's social media pages.
