Friday, was the beginning of Ryan Day’s official Head Coach Tenure. And, players strapped the helmets up, and got at it.

Fall camp opened early for the Buckeyes, Friday, giving media a look at changes from the offseason and first look at the team.

Today, we’re going to give you an inside look, at a few things that we heard or seen for ourselves!

This won’t be your traditional writer article, more so a list! Easy on readers, so they can get a feel of what went down. 

  • Ryan Day made it a point that defense will be a vocal point. Saying that they will need to be the toughest and best tackling team in the conference.
  • Ryan Day seemed delighted to get back to things this season, with no distraction. Calling last years camp “atypical”.
  • Coach Day didn’t say when he would name the starting QB, despite Justin Fields being the unanimous clear favorite by many. Coach said he just wants three quarterbacks ready to play.
  • Ryan Day showed himself as more of a you have to earn it kind of guy. When talking about the preseason rankings he said, “truth be told, we haven’t done anything”.
  • A great chance you’ll see an improved J.K. Dobbins this year, as he’s lost 4% body fat, from an already muscular build.
  • Malik Harrison noted that K’Vaughan Pope has moved from strongside linebacker to weakside linebacker.
  • Chase Young pointed out that Tyreke Smith is one to know about. That he will be “wicked” off the edge.
  • Jeffrey Okudah says his career has been a lot like Denzel Wards, wants to be the best corner around, his first full year starting.
  • Ohio State will have somewhere from 1-5 captains, depending how voting goes.
  • The newly renovated Woody Hayes Athletic Center has some new upgrades.
