WATCH: Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith Scores First TD of 2024 All-American Bowl

The future Buckeyes receiver showed off his route-running and pass-catching skills on his way to posting the first points of Saturday’s 2024 All-American Bowl.

Receiver Jeremiah Smith is off to a hot start since committing to the Ohio State Buckeyes back in December.

The future Buckeyes pass-catcher scored the first touchdown of the 2024 All-American Bowl, showing off his route-running abilities in the process.

Arizona Wildcats quarterback commit Desmond Williams Jr. found Smith wide-open in the end zone, and got a perfectly laced ball right to him. Smith was able to work his way to open pastures after making some impressive moves at the line of scrimmage to shake off defensive back Zabien Brown.

The Hollywood, Florida native signed his letter of intent to play for Ohio State back in mid-December. Smith told a local reporter following his announcement that he made his mind up about the Buckeyes two minutes before he was scheduled to make it official.

The Miami Hurricanes were the final team in contention for Smith aside from Ohio State, but Smith said he chose the latter school because of their rate at the NFL Draft. Buckeyes receivers coach Brian Hartline contradicted Smith’s indecision, saying he was always committed to the Scarlet and Gray in his talks during recruitment.

“I guess I’ll say this about Jeremiah: He never wavered," Hartline said. "His family never wavered. He can say what he wants 2 minutes before the hat came out, but he always told me the same thing. His parents always told me the same thing. From his family to him, everything."

Whether it be the transfer portal or the NFL Draft, Ohio State has several vacant roles in their receiving room, which Smith could be on the fast track to take over.
