Former Ohio State Buckeyes forward Carson Meyer signed a new contract on Friday to remain with the Columbus Blue Jackets for the coming year.

The one-year, two-way extension will have Meyer suiting up for both the Blue Jackets and their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters.

Meyer went the distance with the Buckeyes, earning a bachelor's degree in sports industry after scoring 31 points with 17 goals in his senior season in 2020.

The Powell, Ohio native was drafted by the Blue Jackets in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and made his professional debut with the club during the 2021-22 season. Meyer has a goal, three assists and four points over 27 career games in the big leagues, all with the CBJ.

A majority of Meyer's 2023 season was spent in the AHL with the Monsters, where he posted nine goals and 17 assists for 26 total points. Meyer's nine goals tied him for the most on the team.

Meyer also finished the season with three shorthanded goals, with was the most on the Monsters and tied for eighth-best in all of the AHL.

The 5-foot-11 Meyer played 137 college games with both the Buckeyes and Miami University RedHawks, scoring 89 points with 42 goals over that time.
