LOOK: Ohio State Coach Ryan Day Meets PGA Tour Champion

Current PGA Tour golfer and former major champion Jason Day was in attendance for the Ohio State Buckeyes' practice on Tuesday.

As the No. 3 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes are in the middle of preparations for Saturday's game versus the Purdue Boilermakers, they were joined at practice by a current PGA Tour golfer, who may know a thing about the pursuit of winning championships.

In a tweet from the Buckeyes' official team Twitter account, pictures were shown of professional golfer Jason Day shaking hands and talking with Ohio State coach Ryan Day during Tuesday's practice.

Day, the 35-year-old Australian golfer, has a championship history, as he winning a major championship back in 2015, the same year he achieved the ranking of No. 1 on the "Official World Golf Ranking."

Since then, Day's best finish came back in July during the 2023 Open Championship, where he finished tied for second place with Tom Kim, Jon Rahm, and Sepp Straka, all of whom only trailed Brian Harman.

So why was Day, originally from Australia, in attendance for the Buckeyes practice?

The Columbus Dispatch revealed that the professional golfer currently resides in Westerville, Ohio, near the Buckeyes campus.

The article added that Day's wife, Ellie, is from Lucas, Ohio, which makes it potentially safe to assume the former champion golfer is a Buckeye fan himself, which would be quite ironic considering he shares the same last name as the Ohio State coach and could maybe even pass for "Coach Day" with his facial beard.

"Massive thanks to Coach Day and the OSU program for having me out for practice," Day wrote on Twitter following his visit. "Great times!"
