The Big 12 is an incredible basketball conference, which is a well-known thing. They've got talents like Kansas, Baylor and Houston, all of which are consistently some of the best college basketball programs.

The Big 12 preseason poll came out, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys were slotted at No. 10 in the rankings. Each of the 14 head coaches in the conference submitted a ballot, though they could not vote for their own teams.

As mentioned, the Big 12 is an incredibly tough and deep basketball conference, but given the Cowboys' roster-make of veterans, recruits and transfers, they could come in and make some noise.

To no surprise, Kansas was atop the rankings, with Houston trailing as the only other team with first-place votes. Texas and Baylor fall just behind those two. At No. 10, the Cowboys edged out Cincinnati, Oklahoma, BYU and UCF.

Again, the Cowboys have a blend of veteran returners, transfer portal players and high-level recruits. Combining their talents on the court and utilizing them the right way will be huge for Mike Boynton, who is heading into his seventh season with the program.

Given the parity in the Big 12, the preseason rankings mean close to nothing for the Cowboys, though it could act as some solid motivation for the team and Boynton heading into the new season.
