Oklahoma State has picked up its first commitment from the transfer portal.

On Saturday, former UTEP safety Kobe Hylton announced his commitment to OSU through social media. Hylton played at UTEP for two seasons before entering the portal after the regular season.

Hylton played 22 games for the Miners, including 10 in 2023. This season, the safety finished with 54 tackles and a couple of forced fumbles.

The junior had a standout game against Arizona, a Big 12 team beginning in 2024. Hylton had a season-high nine tackles and forced a fumble against Arizona in a 31-10 loss in September.

But Hylton’s best season came in 2022 when he played all 12 games. Hylton finished with 91 tackles, the third most on the Miners.

He forced another two fumbles as a sophomore, including one against Oklahoma. Hylton could also be a welcome addition to OSU’s special teams unit as he blocked a kick against Louisiana Tech in his best game that season, also finishing with 10 tackles and a forced fumble.

That season, he was also an All-Conference USA Honorable Mention. Before that, the former Miner started his major college career at Louisiana in 2021 but never played.

He also played at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in 2020. He played six games there, registering 19 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception.

The Cowboys added Hylton after safety Ladarius Webb Jr. was the first Cowboy to enter the transfer portal. With a young secondary, Hylton can bring some experience and potentially be a contributor next season.

Bryan Nardo will be entering his second season as OSU’s defensive coordinator, and he now has his first addition from the transfer portal for 2024.
