Three-Star Defensive Back Commits to Oklahoma State's 2024 Class

The Cowboys have secured an 18th player in their 2024 recruiting class.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys aren't done yet, despite early signing day being a thing of the past. They signed each of their 17 commits up to Wednesday, which included a TCU commitment flip. Still, they're not done on the recruiting trail.

December is typically a hectic time of year for recruiting with National Signing Day, now adding transfer portal madness. The Cowboys continue to close, though, as they secured a commitment from three-star defensive back Jacobi Oliphant.

The Cowboys, a program that is notorious for succeeding with underrated recruits, excels on the trail in December as these guys are being passed over. On Tuesday, they received a commitment and eventual signee from a running back standing at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds. Now, they secure 6-foot-4 Oliphant from St. Louis, MO.

Oliphant was the No. 1,260 player in his class, according to 247Sports, and he picked up his offer in October and took his official visit last weekend. He chose Oklahoma State over Colorado State, Wyoming, Ohio, Arkansas State and others.

The Cowboys certainly lacked in the defensive back department this year, struggling to find depth. In the 2024 class, though, they've added five new defensive backs, with four of them having already signed. This is without a UTEP defensive back transfer, meaning they'll bring in six new defensive backs.

In a 3-3-5 defensive scheme brought by defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo, defensive backs are asked of a lot. The Cowboys' elite linebacker trio carried plenty of weight on that end this year, and reinforcement from defensive backs will only make life easier for them.
