2022 CJ Brown Has Explosive Friday Night; Very High On Cowboys

Beggs 2022 running back CJ Brown has three touchdown night and talks Oklahoma State recruitment

Last Friday night, I made the drive to Chandler, Okla, to check out the 2A matchup between Chandler and Beggs.

Beggs has two distinct members of their team that stand out above the rest, both of which Oklahoma State has offered. The first is 2021 safety and Texas A&M commit Kendal Daniels and the second is 2022 athlete offer CJ Brown.

Both players showed up big for their team but Brown certainly took the cake for player of the game with 250 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Beggs would win the game in overtime 28-27, with three of the four touchdowns for Beggs being scored by Brown.

Brown's first touchdown came on a 50+ yard rush that saw him spin out a pile, break multiple tackles, and pull away from the rest of the defense. It was very encouraging to see Brown use his both power and speed simultaneously to make the play.

His second touchdown of the night, a 25 yard rush, he used a bit more finesse and vision to get to the end zone. He took the handoff and darted towards the side of the field as the middle was clogged and waited for a lane to open up. Once it did, all he had to do was side step a defender and glide to the end zone.

His third touchdown, however, was his best of the night. Following a Chandler touchdown, Brown was standing on the goal line waiting for the kickoff. The kick flew to around the 10-yard-line, where Brown caught it and began to maneuver himself through a bevy of defenders, then turning on the burners down the sideline.

The touchdown put Chandler up 20-7 in the fourth quarter. Chandler would then quickly score two touchdowns but would miss the extra point, leaving it tied at 20-20, heading to overtime.

Chandler got the ball first, scored a touchdown and made a PAT to take the lead 27-20.

Brown played a crucial role in overtime, taking the ball three times in a row to set Beggs up on the 3 yard line, where they would throw a touchdown and then convert a 2-point conversion to win the game.

After the game I spoke with Brown to discuss his game and his overall recruitment. Brown was extremely impressive during the game but the number one thing that impressed me was that the first thing he did in the interview was give his team credit and said he couldn't do it without his teammates.

I asked Brown what he thought his best skills or attributes on the field were that make him the player he is.

"My speed and my vision", said Brown. "And just the way I run the ball. I run with passion and I run with force, I've always got the mindset that I'm getting the touchdown."

"Right now OSU the most", Brown said on who he's hearing from in his recruitment. "They've been getting in contact and staying with me but recruitment has been going good."

Brown mentioned that Oklahoma has been trying to get out to him as well as some others.

Although Brown plays on both sides of the ball, Oklahoma State has offered Brown as a running back, meaning Coach Wozniak is handling the recruitment for the Cowboys.

"We have a great relationship. We talk about just random things and have daily conversations, our relationship is definitely there."

When off-camera, Brown said he has team in mind as the leader in his recruitment but would not confirm if it was Oklahoma State. On my own personal inference after hearing what he said about the program and his relationship with Coach Wozniak, I would have to say Oklahoma State is a strong contender for that title.

There is no timetable for Brown's commitment at this point but with the success of the running back position in Stillwater and his current relationships, I am predicting the Cowboys to close out on this down the line.
