Kale Smith Comes Up Clutch For Bombers In Week 1; Talks Cowboys Commitment

Last week was the first Friday for high school football in Oklahoma. Some schools were still in scrimmages but some were playing a real game and one of Oklahoma State's 2021 commitments was able to get in on the action.
The player I went and watched first this season was Midwest City cornerback/wide receiver, Kale Smith.
Kale, who's full name is Makale has said recently that he is now officially going by only "Kale", so from now on, we will be respecting his wishes and doing so.
The Midwest City Bombers took on Westmoore in a tight but choppy game that saw the Bombers take the win 27-20 thanks to Kale Smith.
The first half of the game was very slow, full of both constant injuries and penalties. The Westmoore offense did not target Smith's receiver one time in the first half and Smith could not find a groove on offense due to pace of play being interrupted so often.
The second half though provided much more action, especially for Smith. On the defensive side of the ball, they still did not target his side of the field very often but Smith made himself useful by making some tackles in open field.
Smith's biggest plays came on offense for the Bombers, where he was able to catch a 44 yard touchdown with a massive run after catch to tie the game up at 20 each.
Smith was also asked to make the biggest play of the game with about 40 seconds left on the clock in the fourth quarter. And he came through.
With his team on the other side of midfield and a first down needed to extend the drive, Smith lined up at outside receiver. On the snap, he immediately separated himself from the corner and began to sprint downfield. The quarterback threw a ball up in a perfect spot for Smith to make a catch and he came down with it for a 33 yard gain.
Just seconds later, his offense would score a touchdown to take the lead and win the game.
It was evident that Kale Smith was the best player on the field at all times, no matter what side of the ball he was on.
While he will still need to put some weight on in college, Smith is a very good athlete and showed the skills once again that he can succeed at the next level.
I spoke with Smith after the game to get his thought on his performance and his commitment to the Cowboys.
"I just let them talk, they're all talk.", said Smith. "I just show them on the field, I'm a man, I'm a man and I'm just gonna do me."
"On the offensive side of the ball, they can't guard me and that's just facts. They're gonna have to put some hands on me, I'm gonna get them off of me anyways but you can't guard me."
When it came to his commitment, Smith was very excited. "I just can't wait to get up there man, just to see campus and to meet everybody."
He was also very excited about the team Oklahoma State will be putting on the field this year. "We got something this year, that's facts."
For good measure, Smith, with a huge smile on his face, said "OSU, I'm, gonna be there next year!"
Although Smith is not highly regarded in the recruiting rankings, it appears Oklahoma State has a great player on their hands and one that is excited for his future as well as the programs.
