STILLWATER -- Oklahoma State fans will be anxious on Friday afternoon as the Pokes have a terrific opportunity at a four-star player in their own state with Edmond Santa Fe linebacker, defensive end, and edge rusher prospect Collin Oliver making his announcement at 2 p.m. on May 15. Oliver had announced previously that he would decide on that date, but has now tweeted out the exact time to watch for his decision between the Cowboys, Arkansas, Nebraska, Mississippi, and Utah. He also gave attention to TCU, Texas Tech, and Iowa State out of the Big 12.

I've personally seen Oliver practice and play in person on numerous occasions and I know his defensive coordinator Chris Rose well and he does a good job of preparing his players for the collegiate level.

Oklahoma State has had a solid history of success in recruiting players at Santa Fe and the freshman from the green and silver last season made the transition to orange and black and was one of the best freshmen defenders in the Big 12. Trace Ford was a defensive end at Santa Fe that was athletic enough to play some linebacker, and the baseball center-fielder and hero of the Wolves Class 6A Baseball Championship, also excelled in being an edge rusher.

Ford finished the season with 29 total tackles and four tackles for loss with three sacks. Ford had an interception in the game against Kansas and he also forced a fumble.

While Ford is a little bigger coming out of high school and has to prove he is athletic enough to handle dropping at linebacker and being involved in coverage.

Last season Oliver had similar stats with 30 tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks, and three forced fumbles. Oliver had an interception as well. His skill set is that he is very athletic with good speed and a 6'-2" high jump and a 21'-.5" long jump and even a 49-foot plus shot put. He is a multi-talented guy that could be that hybrid player in the defensive front.

Oliver is that four-star player that the Cowboys are kind of favored to get. We find out on Friday.
