Oklahoma State Football 2024 Commit Shuts Down Recruitment

What will Jonathan Agumadu bring to the table for the Pokes when he makes his way to Stillwater?

On Tuesday, December 5th, Oklahoma State EDGE/LB commit Jonathan Agumadu officially shut down his recruitment. For those that are unaware, this means that he will not contact other schools for recruiting purposes. This is a big deal for the Pokes considering that they have two edge rushers currently committed, and if one were to flip, they would have to scramble to find another this late.

Agumadu is listed at 6-2, 220 pounds and hails from McKinney, Texas. He'll have to put a bit of weight on his frame as most do, but his quickness and ability to chase down the quarterback makes up for it. He's a secure tackler and shows good discipline staying in run fits. He's pretty quick off of the ball and shows good balance and ability to stay on his feet. He shows good strength at the point of attack, rarely being taken out of the play.

I can see Agumadu being used as a third-and-long pass rusher that can get after the quarterback. As I stated before, he shows good quickness off of the edge and has the speed to close in on most quarterbacks if they try to leave the pocket.

He still has a bit to learn, as he did not play defense until his Junior season. With good coaching, he could eventually be a great player for the Cowboys. He has a ton of physical upside. Some speculate that he could play as an outside linebacker, but I like him more as a true edge. It will be interesting to see where the Oklahoma State staff decides to play him.
