The Oklahoma State Cowgirls are 10-2 to begin the college softball season. In that record, they recently secured a dominating top-five win to add to their resume.

The Cowgirls appeared in a double-header on Thursday, playing in Tampa, FL. They started out with a matchup against No. 4 Washington in a game in which they won 7-0.

Lexi Kilfoyl was on the mound, and her defense backed her up more than plenty. The shutout against a top-five team was impressive, but just for good measure, the Cowgirls rung in seven runs to ensure a big victory.

Kilfoyl pitched all seven innings, and the game was scoreless all around until the fifth inning when the Cowgirls finally got on the board. That proved to be enough as they piled on four more runs in the seventh inning en route to the big victory. Freshman Rosie Davis rang in a three-run home run during the game, tallying the third home run of her career.

After the dominating victory, the Cowgirls took on South Florida behind sophomore pitcher Kyra Aycock. She pitched a full seven innings to follow up Kilfoyl's full game.

It appeared the Cowgirls were on their way to a second-straight shutout win, but South Florida scored just one run in the seventh inning. That came in the bottom of the seventh inning, though. By then, the Cowgirls had scored all six of their runs, with five of those coming by the end of the third inning.

Now, on Friday, the Cowgirls remain in Tampa as they're set to take on Yale. The trip extends all the way through Saturday, where they take on Pitt and Loyola-Chicago. The Cowgirls have the potential to end the trip to Tampa hot and bolster their record.
