#9 Oregon State Baseball Suffer 18-2 Loss To Washington

In this story:
After cracking the top ten in the national rankings, Mitch Canham's Oregon State Beavers suffered a brutal loss at Goss Stadium Tuesday night, falling to the Washington Huskies 18-2.
Picking up only five hits against Washington pitchers, it was a cooled performance from the Beavers after the weekend's sweep of Mercer. Defensively, the Beavers allowed a season-high 18 hits to the Huskies. Connor Mendez took the loss for OSU, moving his record to 1-2. Mendez allowed a game-high seven earned runs. OSU used six different pitchers, all of which allowed at-least one run on the evening.
Full stats from Tuesday night's game can be found here, though it's one that Beaver fans are likely hoping to forget quickly.

Washington's offense jumped on top of Connor Mendez early, with a two-RBI double for shortstop Sam DeCarlo. That was quickly followed by a two-run homer by first-baseman Daniel Porras, giving the Huskies a 4-0 lead after one inning.
Oregon State got on the board in the bottom of the second with an RBI bunt by Bryson Glassco, helped along by an error from the UW infield. That gave AJ Singer enough time to score from third base and Glassco to reach first.
In the top of the third, UW loaded the bases on Mendez with one out, prompting the Beavers to replace Mendez with Noah Scott. However, the Huskies quickly posted another five runs before Scott could get out of the inning.
With AJ Hutcheson on the mound in the top of the sixth, the Beavers surrendered two more runs, prompting Hutcheson's day to be ended. In the bottom of the inning, Glasco got Oregon State's second RBI of the day, a sacrifice fly that scored Tyler Inge, to cut the defecit slightly.
The Huskies added another run in the seventh before opening the flood gates again in the eighth. The top of that inning yielded six more runs, including a three-run homer by Landon Young off of Trevor Kaiser. The scoreline held for the remaining 1.5 innings.
The loss drops Oregon State to 21-6 this season and gives them their first home loss of 2026. The Beavers start an Easter Weekend series this week on Thursday against Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. PT, broadcasting on ESPN+ as well as on the radio at Beaver Sports Network.
