The Penn State Nittany Lions will host the Indiana Hoosiers this Saturday after a disappointing loss at Ohio State last weekend. The Nittany Lions never got going on offense, as the Buckeyes defense held them to just 12 points and 240 yards, but 73 of those yards came on the final TD drive, which had no impact on the final result. Although PSU wasn’t at their best, they’ll need to write the ship and can do so against an Indiana team struggling to gain any momentum. Although my Penn State vs. Ohio State prediction didn’t come to fruition, I’ve still nailed four of my six best bets this season and recently cashed our pick for PSU vs. UMass.

Indiana vs. #10 Penn State Prediction for Saturday, 10/28
The Indiana Hoosiers will travel to Happy Valley for a noon kickoff this Saturday against the Penn State Nittany Lions. PSU suffered their first defeat of the season last Saturday at Ohio State, and there were a variety of things that went wrong for the Nittany Lions. James Franklin never allowed his team to establish a rushing attack early, and QB Drew Allar wasn’t at his best in a hostile environment against a stingy Ohio State secondary. Penn State must bounce back this weekend, as they have another showdown with #2 Michigan in two weeks, which will ultimately decide whether they can make a Big Ten Championship.
However, that game against the Wolverines means nothing if PSU can’t take care of business against Indiana, and we anticipate a motivated response from the home team. The Hoosiers are 2-5 this season, with their only victories coming against Indiana State (41-7) and Akron (29-27). Indiana has Big Ten defeats to Ohio State, Maryland, Michigan and Rutgers, allowing an average of 37.5 points per game. They somehow held Ohio State to 23 points in the season opener, but that appeared to be an anomaly, as Maryland (44), Michigan (52) and even Rutgers (31) lit up this defense.
For Penn State, this game will be about re-instilling confidence in QB Drew Allar, and we expect a high-tempo offense from the Nittany Lions. The young QB has yet to throw an interception this season, and we don’t expect that to change this Saturday. Before the Ohio State game, the Nittany Lions scored 30+ points in every contest and currently average 48.8 PPG at Beaver Stadium this season. The rushing attack never got going against OSU last weekend, but Indiana allows 174.4 rushing yards per game (106th in the country), so we anticipate a big day for Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton.
