How to Watch Penn State Wrestling's Senior Day Match

The No. 1 Nittany Lions will host Edinboro in their last regular-season match of 2024.

The No. 1 Penn State wrestling team can complete its fourth consecutive unbeaten regular season Sunday when it hosts Edinboro at Rec Hall. The match will serve as Penn State's Senior Day, and who the Nittany Lions recognize will be interesting to watch.

Penn State coach Cael Sanderson hemmed at the question last week and really didn't want to look ahead. At least not until March, when the real Senior Day arrives.

"It's really not Senior Night," Sanderson told reporters in State College last week. "Saturday night of the NCAA tournament is Senior Night really for those guys. But it is for the fans, and for most of the fans it’s their last chance to see them in person."

So enjoy. Here's what to expect from, and how to watch, Penn State vs. Edinboro.

Penn State (11-0) vs. Edinboro (2-11)

When: 2 p.m. ET Sunday

Where: Rec Hall, State College, Pa.

Streaming: Big Ten Plus

About the Nittany Lions: Penn State can complete a remarkable 2024 regular season, one that will stack up well against Sanderson's previous eight undefeated campaigns. Penn State went 8-0 in the Big Ten, winning by an average margin of 27.3 points per match. The Lions shut out two conference opponents (Indiana and Michigan State), handed Iowa its worst loss in 60 years and compiled a Big Ten bout record of 67-13. Only one team, Nebraska, won four bouts in a match against the Lions, who have won 55 consecutive matches. This certainly will be 56, as Edinboro does not have a ranked wrestler. As a result, Sanderson likely will sit some starters in favor of veterans who don't wrestle often. One could be Baylor Shunk, a fifth-year wrestler from nearby Penns Valley who filled in for Aaron Nagao at 133 pounds against Nebraska. Shunk drew praise from Sanderson for being a model teammate and a "peacemaker." "He's one of those guys who makes the team better in a lot of ways," Sanderson said. "... It’s guys like Baylor who really pull things together."
