Pitt Basketball F Guillermo Diaz-Graham Wins FIBA U20 Title

The Pitt Panther forward won the U20 European Championships with the Spanish national team.

PITTSBURGH -- Pitt Panthers forward Guillermo Diaz-Graham has spent the past two weeks in Europe, practicing with and playing for the U20 Spanish national team. The Canary Islands native and his team reached the conclusion of the FIBA European Championships on Sunday and emerged as gold medal winners after a 69-61 win over Lithuania.

The Spaniards did not lose for the entirety of the event. Just two of the seven games they played were decided by single digits and Spain's average margin of victory was more than 17 points.

Diaz-Graham played just 7:34 in the gold medal match on Sunday, but made an obvious impact. He scored six points with a perfect shooting game - 100% from the field and free throw line - to go along with a block and a steal. Diaz-Graham appeared in all seven games, averaging 6.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocked shots per appearance. He made 59.7% of his field goal attempts, including a 40% mark from 3-point distance, and 76.9% of his free throws.
