Pitt DL Calijah Kancey Named Athlon's Preseason All-American
PITTSBURGH -- Pitt Panthers star defensive lineman Calijah Kancey's national spotlight continues to rise as the junior takes home another offseason honor.
Kancey was named a First Team Preseason All-American by Athlon Sports. This comes after a sophomore season that finished with first-team All-ACC and third-team Associated Press All-America recognitions.
Last season, Kancey led the team with 13 tackles for loss and was second in sacks with seven.
The Pitt defensive line ranks fourth on Athlon's unit rankings, trailing Clemson, Alabama and Georgia. Kancey is one of 15 returning starters for the Panthers.
Pitt is ranked as the No. 22 team in the country on Athlon's rankings. They're predicted to finish second in the ACC's Coastal Division.
