Purdue Women's Basketball Freshman Guard Emily Monson Hits Transfer Portal

Purdue women's basketball freshman guard Emily Monson has decided to enter her name into the NCAA transfer portal. She made the announcement with a post on social media on Thursday.

Monson, a 6-foot-1 freshman from Murfreesboro, Tenn., spent just one year in West Lafayette. She will have three seasons of eligibility remaining at her next destination.

"I would like to thank everyone at Purdue for the great experiences and great relationships I have made," Monson wrote. "This decision has been one of the toughest decisions I've had to make. I am now putting it in God's hands. After lots of thought and prayer, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal.

"I am excited to see what the future holds!"

Monson played in 20 games for the Boilermakers during the 2023-24 season. She scored 12 points, had nine rebounds and dished out eight assists for the season. She logged a season-high 14 minutes in a game against Southern Indiana and scored four points against UCLA.

Coming out of Blackman High School, Monson was a Naismith High School All-America honorable mention and a McDonald's All-America Game nominee. She scored 1,066 points, collected 337 rebounds and 117 steals in her high school career.

Purdue finished the 2023-24 season with a 15-19 record and earned a trip to the WNIT Great 8.
