Report: Chiefs' Rice Being Sought by Dallas Police Regarding Accident

No idea level of involvement for former SMU receiver in northeast part of town on Saturday afternoon

DALLAS — For some reason, Dallas police are apparently wanting to talk to former SMU Mustangs wide receiver Rashee Rice, now a key piece to the Kansas City Chiefs' run to a Super Bowl title in February. This is according to a story in the Dallas Morning News on Sunday.

it was not clear whether Rice is facing charges, and his level of involvement in the accident also is unclear. Rice did not appear in Dallas County jail records as of Sunday, according to the story.

A police call sheet obtained by the Dallas Morning News confirmed that officials are searching for Rice in connection with the crash. Police have not disclosed details of the accident or whether anyone was injured, according to the report.

Reports say a vehicle that is believed to be registered to or leased to Rice was involved in a crash in northeast Dallas at around 6:20 p.m. local time Saturday. Apparently, the accident happened on University Blvd. when a Corvette, alleged to have been driven by Rice, and a Lamborghini, were traveling at high speed and hit the center median wall.

According to the story, a couple of drivers were treated and a couple of more were taken to the hospital for treatment of some minor injuries. The story said occupants in the Corvette and Lamborghini apparently jumped out and took off after the accident.

Rice was a second-round draft pick in 2023 by Kansas City and almost immediately proved to be a key target for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. He was second among NFL rookie receivers in yards. In the Chiefs’ overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, Rashee caught six passes for 39 yards to help Kansas City to the title.
