South Carolina Baseball Remains Top Ranked Team

After the first week of the season, South Carolina remained one of the top ranked teams amongst all major college baseball rankings.

Few teams in college baseball enjoyed a better opening week than South Carolina. The Gamecocks closed out their perfect first week with a three-game sweep against Penn. Though the team's 8-0 record is a reflection of their prominence as one of the best teams in the country, this week's round of college baseball rankings further displayed the Gamecocks as one of the best teams in the nation.

The four primary national rankings for college baseball, USA Today, NCBWA, D1 Baseball, and Collegiate Baseball, all held the Gamecocks in favorable standing. The Gamecocks were top 25 in three rankings, slated at 23 in the nation for both D1 Baseball and USA Today's ranking and 24 for the NCBWA ranking. Collegiate Baseball was the only ranking that left the Gamecocks out of the top 25, instead slotting them at 29.

After an excellent week of baseball, it is no surprise to see the major rankings view South Carolina as one of the best teams in the nation. With the Palmetto Series coming this week, it is promising to see South Carolina being regarded as one of the best teams in the country.
