REPORT: GG Jackson Receives New Contract From Memphis Grizzlies

Coming off the heels of a career night, the Memphis Grizzlies have rewarded the former South Carolina's men's basketball star with a new contract.

When GG Jackson was drafted with the 45th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft this past summer, many South Carolina basketball fans were shocked at the slide and believed that the 18-year-old who had just led an SEC in scoring as a freshman (15.4 PPG) was much better than where he was selected. As it turns out, the fans who had watched the Columbia native play on the court last season were correct.

Jackson has been a fixture on the Memphis Grizzlies main roster since January 9th due to the team's rash of injuries and has been a bright spot during that stretch. GG, however, has picked up his play over the past week and a half, scoring in double figures in six of the Grizzlies' last seven games, including a career-high 27 points against the Chicago Bulls last night.

It appears that these recent performances have swayed the opinions of those in Memphis' front office as far as where Jackson is developmentally, as ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported in the wee hours of the morning that the rookie had agreed to a new four-year contract with the franchise, with three of those seasons being guaranteed. Not bad for a late second round draft pick. Not bad at all.
