Although the dust has largely settled from the December transfer portal window, some transfers are still making decisions right as the winter semester begins for most colleges and universities across the country. One of them, edge rusher/outside linebacker Gilber Edmond, made his decision on Monday morning to commit to Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks, as first reported by GamecockCentral.

If Gilber sounds like a familiar name to you, he should, because Edmond was on the Gamecocks roster between 2020 and 2022 before transferring to the Florida State Seminoles this past offseason. The Florida native is the first Gamecock to have left and returned to the team via the transfer portal.

In his final season before heading down to Tallahassee, Gilber racked up 39 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, and two sacks, all of which remained career highs through 2023. Edmond's return gives the Gamecocks more depth and starting experience at their edge rusher/outside linebacker position, depending on which scheme is utilized in 2024.
