Gamecocks Leave Texas With More Injuries Than Before

The 2023 season hasn't been kind to South Carolina's Football program as far as injuries are concerned, and that continued on Saturday Vs. Texas A&M.

The South Carolina Gamecocks came into their matchup against Texas A&M already a beaten and battered football team and, as shocking as it is to say, that's even more so the case. After Carolina suffered their fourth straight loss of the season, losing the Aggies 30-17, Shane Beamer met with the media and gave some quick updates on multiple offensive starters who left the game due to injury.

"Trai Jones has a high ankle sprain. Don't know the prognosis on him. Tree [Babalde] obviously had to come in in his place, but he as you guys saw he wasn't 100%. We were hoping to not have to play him in case of emergency, but that was an emergency when Trai got hurt," Beamer explained.

It wasn't just the offensive line, however, who suffered a key injury, as Carolina lost yet another one of their starting pass-catchers, this time at the tight end position.

"Trey Knox has got a little bit of a hamstring. Hopefully he'll be ok. You guys may ask why Xavier Legette wasn't in there on that last drive. He got his ankle rolled up on, [and] he said on the second down play over there on their sideline. He needed to come out and didn't feel like he could go in on that third and fourth down play as well."

While the Jacksonville State Gamecocks are not an opponent South Carolina can afford to overlook, it will serve as an opportunity for Legette and several other players to get healthier before they face three straight Power 5 opponents to end the regular season.
