Gamecocks Offer Former All-SEC Selection At Wide Receiver In Will Sheppard

There aren't many WR1 caliber wideouts in the portal, but South Carolina's Football staff just offered one from within their own conference.

In terms star talent at the wide receiver position, there's no program set to lose more firepower than the South Carolina Gamecocks, with super senior Xavier Legette moving onto the NFL and 2022 First team All-SEC selection Antwane Wells Jr. entering the transfer portal. Add in a couple of graduations, and wide receiver has become by far the biggest portal need that needs to be addressed in this cycle.

The Gamecocks are already tapping into Palmetto State connections with Vanderbilt transfer Jayden McGowan, and now have one of his teammates on their radar, as fellow Commodore wideout Will Sheppard announced on Monday night that he had received an offer from Carolina.

Sheppard brings something that few if any other wideouts can offer in the portal, proven Power 4 production as the guy in his team's offense. Over his four seasons in Nashville, Will racked up 152 catches for 2,067 receiving yards and 21 receiving touchdowns. His banner 2022 campaign led to him being named a postseason Second Team All-SEC selection by the Associated Press.
