Over the past four seasons, the South Carolina Gamecocks have struggled to bring the quarterback to the ground, recording more than 21 sacks just once in that stretch. It was the exact amount Clayton White's unit recorded in the 2023 season, and with four of those sacks walking out the door with Jordan Strachan, Carolina needed to go get an experienced pass rusher from the portal in order to prevent putting too much pressure on younger players.

They accomplished just that on Friday as Shane Beamer and his staff secured a commitment from Georgia Tech defensive lineman Kyle Kennard. Kennard is a graduate transfer who appeared in 42 games and started in 20 of them for the Yellow Jackets, racking up 115 total tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, and 12.5 sacks in that timeframe. He's the second portal addition along the defensive line for the Gamecocks this week, joining fellow ACC transfer from Pitt., Deandre Jules.
