Early National Signing Day Capsule: Kelvin Hunter
South Carolina's Football program has loaded up at the safety position, with their key contributors bringing a lot of Palmetto State flare to the field. That's what the Gamecocks are getting in 2024 signee Kelvin Hunter who, as crazy as it sounds, will bring even more explosiveness and run-stuffing ability to that position group.
Prospect: Kelvin Hunter
School: West Florence High School (Florence, South Carolina)
Projected Position: Box Safety
Size: 5'11.5, 179 pounds
Athleticism: Runs like a gazelle on the field, which allows him to be a factor on any given run play, whether it goes to Hunter's side of the field or away from him.
Instincts: Eyes match his feet. Takes off as soon as he realizes who has the ball when on defense and when he finds an open lane as a return man on special teams.
Bottom Line: Hunter might be joining a position group that's laden with talent and experience, but with his athletic traits and versatile skillset, there's no question that he'll see the field sooner rather than later.
