St. John’s Basketball Releases Schedule for Season

The St. John's Red Storm have released their full exhibition and regular season schedule.

Slowly but surely, the schedule for the St. John’s Red Storm men’s basketball team for the 2026-27 season has been revealed.

A few of their Big East opponents, such as the opener against the DePaul Blue Demons and both games against the UConn Huskies, have been revealed. DePaul is coming to Madison Square Garden on Dec. 19, and UConn visits the World’s Most Famous Arena on Jan. 29. The Red Storm will travel to Storrs on March 2nd.

The three-game exhibition slate was also revealed previously. St. John’s will host the Drexel Dragons at Carnesecca Arena on Oct. 14 before welcoming the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Texas Longhorns to MSG on Oct. 18 and Oct. 25.

Participating in the Players Era Festival will happen again, with their first opponent being the Oregon Ducks on Nov. 24. That is a two-game guarantee, but as many as four games could be played in Sin City.

The Red Storm will face the Arizona Wildcats as part of the Hall of Fame series at MSG on Dec. 5. A week later, they will hit the road and head south to face the Alabama Crimson Tide at Legacy Arena.

Right now, there are 11 non-conference games scheduled for St. John’s. They could play as many as 13, depending on how far along they advance in the Players Era Festival bracket.

Along with the Drexel exhibition, five other non-conference games are going to be held at Carnesecca Arena against the Monmouth Hawks, Colgate Raiders, Siena Saints, Columbia Lions and Wagner Seahawks.

However, the game against Columbia will be canceled if the Red Storm advance to the Players Era Festival Championship Game, which is set for Nov. 28. The game against head coach Rick Pitino’s former team, the Iona Gaels, does not have a date or venue set yet.

A former rival, the Syracuse Orange, is on the schedule this season as well. They will be coming to Madison Square Garden for a non-conference game on Nov. 15. This will be the first time since Nov. 22, 2022 that the former Big East foes go up against each other.

As previously reported, all of St. John’s home games during Big East play will be played at Madison Square Garden this season. It is one of the things Pitino pushed for upon accepting the head coaching position and in Year 4, it has finally come to fruition.

The Red Storm will play 20 Big East games, with the conference tournament set to begin on March 10, which will be held at Madison Square Garden as well.
