Cardinal WR Elic Ayomanor 'Capitalized' on Opportunities in Record-Breaking Game

Stanford Cardinal wide receiver Elic Ayomanor recorded 13 catches for 294 yards and three touchdowns on Friday against Colorado.

The Stanford Cardinal trailed Colorado 29-0 at halftime on Friday. However, the game ended as titled 'the largest comeback in program history.' Part of the reason for Stanford's historic win was that sophomore wide receiver Elic Ayomanor had a Cardinal record-breaking game in receiving yardage.

Before Friday's matchup Ayomanor never totaled more than four catches in a single game or had gone over 100 yards. That changed on Friday when the wideout recorded 13 catches for 294 yards and three touchdowns.

"I don't think anything was different, it's just like a lot of things aligned and I ended up getting my opportunities and I capitalized on the opportunities that I got," Ayomanor said. "I will say though that I had been wearing my brace for the majority of this season and I was not wearing my brace this game so I felt a little bit smoother for sure."

In his final touchdown of the game in overtime , Ayomanor quite literally caught an end-zone ball off of his defender's head give the Cardinal the lead. While the adrenaline may have felt exciting in the moment, Ayomanor was just worried about what was going to happen when Colorado got the ball back.

"Obviously it felt very very good in the moment, but to be honest, the very next thought was 'we still haven't won this game yet,'" Ayomanor said. "They're getting the ball back and if they score, we gotta go back out there and do it again. But looking back on it, it was a really great moment. It's going to live in my memory for the rest of my life for sure."
