CFB Insider Makes Bold Conference Realignment Prediction, A Ton Of Major Programs Left Out

Similar to how it was last offseason, conference realignment is the talk of the college football offseason in 2024.

All of the moves that occurred last offseason or even the year prior will all officially be taking place next season, but based on murmurs from around the country they may not be done with movement. With the playoff format changing, and control of college football clearly up for grabs with the NCAA's relevance and power fading, both the SEC and Big Ten are in a position to assert themselves as the sport's biggest beneficiaries.

They already have the biggest media deals, and now with their recent additions in realignment, are even more power-hungry to form two mega conferences.

This would essentially make the College Football Playoff a playoff between themselves, while the rest of whatever is remaining will struggle to keep up. The two mega conferences have been a subject of discussion for the past year, and with the ongoing ACC issues, it is only seeming more and more likely.

On3's Andy Staples discussed the proposed mega-conferences on his show recently, and there were quite a few notable programs that were left out of the fold.

In this scenario, schools such as Lousiville, Stanford, Arizona, Colorado, TCU, and Duke among others were all left out.

Surely if this were to happen, the Big 12 and ACC programs would merge or one of them would pick off the other. If this were to happen, there would be more chaos than ever in college football.
