Richard Sherman Stuns Skip Bayless With Hot Take About C.J. Stroud

Richard Sherman, former Stanford Cardinal cornerback, thinks that Houston Texans rookie C.J. Stroud is a top 10 quarterback in the NFL.

Houston Texans' quarterback C.J. Stroud has already made a name for himself within the first nine games of his NFL career.

On top of that, he has caught the eye of former big-name NFL athletes, like ex-cornerback for the Stanford Cardinal, Richard Sherman.

"He showed that he's a top 10 quarterback in this football league right now," Sherman said. "He's showed that throughout the season."

In his first nine games of the 2023 season, Stroud has recorded 2,270 passing yards while acquiring 14 touchdowns and only one interception.

"You've got to give C.J. Stroud all the credit in the world," Sherman said. "He got passed over with the No. 1 pick by the Carolina Panthers. … It doesn't look like the right decision now. Bryce has struggled. Not to say he's not going to be a great quarterback in this league going forward … but, right now, C.J. Stroud looks like he came in NFL-ready, and [is] the best Ohio State quarterback to ever grace the NFL."

Most recently, however, Stroud set the single-game record for passing yards by a rookie on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, totaling 470 yards. He became the fifth rookie to record five touchdowns passes in a game.

Stroud led the Texans' offense to a score in the last 46 minutes of the game to secure a 39-37 win for Houston. Sherman is nothing but impressed and pleased with Stroud's rookie-season debut.

"He came in and broke the record for an Ohio State quarterback in his first couple games of the season," Sherman said. "No quarterback had thrown over for 380 yards in a game, and he did that in, maybe, his second or third game. He's doing a lot of special things, and I'm really impressed with him."
