Meaghan Tyrrell Becomes Syracuse Women's Lacrosse's All-Time Points Leader

The Orange star is now the career record holder in program history.

Syracuse women's lacrosse star became the all-time leader in career points in Orange history on Thursday during the regular season finale against Boston College. She did so on an assist in the third quarter to extend Syracuse's lead. The assist, which was to sister Emma Tyrrell, gave her 397 career points, one ahead of former star Katie Rowan. Rowan became the second female athlete, and first female lacrosse athlete, to have her jersey retired at Syracuse last year.

Tyrrell passed her head coach, Kayla Treanor, into second place on the list during the previous game at North Carolina in which Syracuse snapped the Tar Heels 41-game home winning streak. Tyrrell was the Preseason National Player of the Year and is one of 25 players nationally to be named a Tewaaraton Award Nominee.

Syracuse has been ranked #1 in the country for the last several weeks and is one of only two undefeated teams left in women's college lacrosse (Denver). The Orange has also played the nation's most difficult schedule, with wins over eight ranked opponents and wins over seven teams currently ranked in the top 12.

Syracuse should enter the NCAA Tournament as the top overall seed and will be seeking the program's first ever National Championship.
