Syracuse women's lacrosse moved up from fifth to fourth in the latest Inside Lacrosse Women's Division I Lacrosse Poll and IWLCA Coaches Poll. The move comes on the heels of the Orange's 16-15 win over Northwestern in the season opener. The Wildcats, who were ranked fourth at the time of that game, dropped one spot to fifth in both polls.

Syracuse entered the 2023 season with high expectations once again. One of the best programs in the sport over the last decade plus, the Orange is still looking for that elusive National Championship. Syracuse has made multiple Final Fours and played in the title game multiple times as well. Each time the Orange lost before earning the championship trophy.

Last season, Syracuse was up and down, dealt with a lot of injuries but still made the NCAA Tournament. In the Quarterfinals, the Orange fell at Northwestern to end its season. Syracuse exacted revenge with a season opening win, but may see the Wildcats in the postseason once again.

Preseason National Player of the Year Meaghan Tyrrell scored eight points on two goals and six assists. Megan Carney tallied four goals while Emma Tyrrell notched three goals and an assist. Goalie Delaney Sweitzer had a strong game with 11 saves.
