Syracuse Women's Lacrosse Moves Up To #2 In Latest Poll

The Orange moved up two spots after blowing out Maryland.

Syracuse women's lacrosse has moved up two spots to #2 in the country in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA Poll. Defending National Champion North Carolina remained at #1. The Orange did receive five out of 25 first place votes with the other 20 going to the Tar Heels.

Syracuse had 603 total points compared to 619 for North Carolina. Those two schools meet in the Orange's final road game of the season in Chapel Hill (NC) on Saturday, April 15th.

The Orange has started the season 2-0 behind a one goal win over then #4 Northwestern and a statement 20-11 domination of then #2 Maryland. The Wildcats are now ranked #3 in the latest poll while the Terps dropped to sixth behind Boston College and Stony Brook.

Following two straight top five opponents to start the season, Syracuse has a bit of a break from top level competition with Binghamton on Monday. That is followed by its first road game of the season at Pittsburgh on Saturday.

The Orange is led by Preseason National Player of the Year Meaghan Tyrrell, who had a career high 11 points in Syracuse's win over Maryland on Friday. Syracuse also has some of the most talented and deepest offensive firepower in the country.
