In this story:

Class of 2024 West Orange (NJ) High defensive back Chaas McCoy was one of several prospects from the Garden State on the Syracuse campus over the weekend. He enjoyed his visit.

"Loved everything about it," McCoy said. "Learning from the best. Coach Fisher taught me a lot about what it's like to be a part of the Cuse family."

One of the highlights was being able to attend practice and observe how the coaches coach as well as the competitive culture within the program.

"Watched the practice, loved the competitiveness and watching the guys craft and get after it during the two minute drill," McCoy said. "The staff's energy is just as high as the players'. Can definitely see myself there in a year and a half."

During the visit, McCoy spent a lot of time with cornerbacks backs coach Travis Fisher.

"Everything ends with a finish," McCoy said. "Coach Fisher told me finish in everything you do and surely it will translate to the game at our position. Great coach with a strong mindset. Keeps it real with you and breaks down details.

"His message to me was to be different by mainly listen always in life. Every question asked he said it was no wrong answer, which stood out to me."

The campus and facilities also stood out.

"Loved the little city (campus) and the facilities were amazing," McCoy said. "The halls showing the sport's success Syracuse has and how they produce great athletes and great athletes only (stood out)."

McCoy holds the Orange in high regard after the visit.

"Definitely one of my favorite visits so far," McCoy said. "Definitely boosted Cuse's interest in me after yesterday and looking forward to being back. They're supposed to come by to see me this spring."
