In this story:

Class of 2025 Metuchen (NJ) Bergen Catholic defensive lineman Delaney Fludd is one of the most intriguing prospects in the Northeast. At 6-3, 290 pounds, he already holds offers from Akron, Boston College, Connecticut, Liberty, Marshall, Syracuse and Temple. Syracuse was the most recent school to offer, extending one on August 15th.

"It was good," Fludd said. "I got to talk to coach Nunz for a little bit. Overall excited but I'm still working. It was a good feeling. I wanted this offer for a really long time because I like a lot of players that come from Cuse."

One of those players is someone who was a four year letterman at Syracuse, a semifinalist for the 1989 Lombardi Award and spent 14 seasons in the NFL including winning Super Bowl XXXV. That would be one Rob Burnett, who was born in New Jersey but played for Newfield High School in Long Island (NY).

"I just liked how he played with a lot of aggression and physical strength," Fludd said. "I try to incorporate that with my game."

The next step for Fludd and his relationship with Syracuse is to take a visit.

"If I could I want to come up for one game during the season to see the atmosphere," Fludd said.

There is another connection to Syracuse as well. Fludd's head coach at Bergen Catholic is Vito Campanile, the brother of Orange tight ends coach Nunzio Campanile.

Besides those who have offered, Fludd says Penn State and West Virginia are actively recruiting him.
