Donnie Freeman Sets Commitment Date, Down to Five Schools
Syracuse basketball recruiting target Donnie Freeman will announce his collegiate destination on Thursday, May 11th at 3:30 p.m. eastern at St. John's College High School. Freeman has taken official visits to Alabama, Iowa, Syracuse and Texas. He will decide among those schools and Georgia Tech. He is one of the top forwards in the 2024 class.
"The visit was pretty straightforward," Freeman said after his Syracuse visit. "They got straight to the point. Down there, it was strictly about business. Having good conversations, honest conversations. That's really what meant the most to me was how straightforward it was. Syracuse was really blatant about what they wanted to do with me in that class and I really liked that."
Freeman, a 6-9 forward who plays for St. John's College High in Washington (DC), is rated a four star prospect by all four major recruiting services (247Sports, ESPN, On3 and Rivals). He is ranked a top 35 prospect by 247Sports, ESPN and On3, but ranked 54th by Rivals.
During the 2022-23 season at St. John's College High, Freeman averaged 21 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He led the first EYBL session in blocked shots and was named to the session's All Defensive Team.
Syracuse's 2024 class currently includes sharpshooting guard Elijah Moore.
