Elijah Washington Commits to Syracuse

The Orange lands a highly regarded tight end for its 2024 class.

Class of 2024 Norfolk (VA) Lake Taylor tight end Elijah Washington has committed to Syracuse, he announced on social media Wednesday evening. Washington chose the Orange over offers from Rutgers, Virginia and West Virginia among others.

Washington is a 6-6, 210 pound tight end prospect who is rated as a high three-star by 247Sports, On3 and Rivals. In fact, he is ranked as the 25th best tight end prospect by On3 and an 89 overall (a 90 is a four star). Washington was offered in May and kept in constant contact with primary recruiter Darrell Perkins and future position coach Nunzio Campanile since that point.

He has not visited the Orange yet, but is looking to take an unofficial in September and an official after that.

Washington becomes the 17th player overall in Syracuse football's 2024 recruiting class. He is also the second player from the state of Virginia, joining safety Michael Matthews-Canty. Washington is also the second highly regarded tight end to join the Orange's class, along with Jamie Tremble out of Georgia.

Syracuse is in the midst of training camp as it gears up for the 2023 season, which opens against Colgate on Saturday, September 2nd in the JMA Wireless Dome.
